BlogJet

I’m evaluating three blogging tools: ecto, BlogJet, and w.bloggar. The competition is tough but BlogJet is my current favorite. It has a well organized interface and a nice feature set. Interestingly enough, I’m using Onfolio for this post because I was using it at the time and it has blog posting capability. Never again. The “link” feature doesn’t allow attributes to be specified and I can’t find a way to edit the HTML directly prior to posting. I guess tags are out on this one. Now, back to the evaluation.

I’ve enjoyed looking at BlogJet and w.Bloggar. Both make posting easy, etc. but I’m looking for more. I read about and thought it would be worth a try.

Riya Photo Search Is Amazing

Web No Comments »

Riya Photo Search (previously called Ojos) went alpha this week. This very cool service uses facial recognition technology to identify people in photos. Text in photos is also recognized, and ultimately, these features will allow for automatic tagging and submission to photo sharing sites. So far, I’ve uploaded uploaded 330 photos. With less than fifteen minutes of training, Riya has recognized 99 faces. I would have spent more time training if it weren’t for email address requirement. Each person that you recognize in Riya requires an email address. This is to create uniqueness; however, most of the faces in my photos are kids who don’t have email addresses yet so it’s hold off or make one up. For situations like this, it would be nice to have an alternate way to arrive at uniqueness. I’m sure they’re working on it.

You can’t go wrong with writley

The more I use writely, the more I realize that web-based applications present a compelling alternative to apps on my PC. Call it web 2.0, call it AJAX, call it connected, call it what you like. I call it cool. You create a new document by sending an email, you edit, you collaborate, you post to your blog…from any browser in the world. If this is a sign of things to come, I’m looking forward to the future.
